Nettle: A Daily Mineral Ritual

I’m beginning a 30-day nettle challenge and inviting you to join me. The commitment is simple: drink one quart of a strong nettle infusion each day. This isn’t a light cup of tea—it’s a deeply nourishing, mineral-rich infusion with real substance.
If you’re new to herbal infusions, the process is refreshingly straightforward. Pour hot water over dried herbs, cover, let steep, strain, and it’s ready. Nettle, however, benefits from a longer infusion—ideally steeped overnight—to fully extract its vitamins and minerals. This slow process is what gives nettle its depth and potency.
Nettle has long been valued in herbal traditions as a foundational, nutritive plant. It’s especially rich in minerals like magnesium, calcium, and iron—nutrients many of us don’t get enough of, in part due to modern soil depletion. Incorporating nettle regularly can be a gentle way to support overall nourishment.

In the spring, when seasonal allergies are at their peak, nettle is often turned to for its supportive role. It’s also traditionally used to support kidney health, making it a well-rounded ally for this time of year.
A quick note on taste: nettle infusion has a distinctly green, earthy flavor. It may take a little getting used to, but many people come to appreciate its simplicity.
If this resonates with you, all you need is dried nettle and a mason jar. Start with one quart a day and see how your body responds.
I’ll be sharing reflections after 30 days—what I notice, what shifts, and how this daily ritual unfolds.
